Cooperation agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)

The Mayor of Athens Yiorgos Kaminis announced the cooperation agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for the temporary accommodation of 3,000 refugees to the city’s apartments


The Mayor of Athens, Yiorgos Kaminis, and the Representative of UNHCR in Greece, Philippe Leclerc, announced today the agreement reached between the Municipality of Athens and UNHCR regarding the temporary accommodation of refugees.


Travel Trade Athens 2015 – 3000 business meetings in one day

88 hosted buyers from 29 countries descended on Athens last week to meet with 190 Greek tourism professionals in an impressive 3000 individual one to one engagements at the 2015 Travel Trade Athens.

In its third annual year, Travel Trade Athens took place on 26-27 April at the Megaron Athens International Conference Center.

Organised by the City of Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) and the European Tour Operators Association (ETOA), Travel Trade Athens is the signature trade event for the Greek capital.


Athens Convention & Visitors Bureau Presents Action Plan for 2015

In 2015, the Athens Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) will expand its global outreach by participating in 15 major travel trade shows, workshops, and forums worldwide. ACVB is also enhancing its role in travel industry networks such as the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA), World Youth & Student Travel Federation (WYSE), and International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA).

Athens welcomes the important international meeting of travel bloggers and tourism media and writers.

This year’s event in Athens is the biggest international gathering of travel bloggers, writers, and new media content creators from approximately 50 countries.  It constitutes a significant success and especially in a year where—as data from the past 8 months indicate—the Greek capital is returning dynamically to the international tourism map.
